CELPIP Speaking Task 3 Template: Describing a Scene

Objectif

Décrivez ce qui se passe dans une image en identifiant les personnes, les actions, les objets et les lieux en 60 secondes. Vous disposez de 30 secondes pour étudier l’image. Cette tâche évalue votre capacité à utiliser le Present Continuous et le vocabulaire spatial avec fluidité (fluency).

Chaque étape ci-dessous reprend la même consigne afin que vous puissiez suivre un seul scénario à travers l’ensemble du modèle.

Prompt: Describe what you see in this picture of a farmers’ market.

Étape 1 : ouverture. Identifier la scène dans son ensemble

Objectif : Donnez un aperçu en une phrase de l’image entière. Cela pose le contexte et devrait prendre environ cinq à dix secondes.

Astuce grammaticale : Present Continuous pour les actions en cours

Formule : Subject + is/are + Verb-ing

C’est le temps clé pour la Task 3. Chaque action que vous décrivez doit être au Present Continuous, car vous décrivez ce qui se passe en ce moment même dans l’image.

Exemples :

• A young woman is selecting tomatoes at a market stall.
• An elderly vendor is displaying fresh bread behind his counter.
• Two children are running between the stalls and laughing.

Le modèle

• Vue d’ensemble : This picture shows [a scene/setting with people doing something].
• Atmosphère (optionnel) : It looks like [a busy/relaxed/festive] [time/place/event].

Exemple : This picture shows a busy outdoor farmers’ market on a sunny day. It looks like a vibrant weekend morning with lots of people shopping and socializing.

Étape 2 : description principale. Balayer et décrire

Objectif : Décrivez systématiquement les éléments clés de l’image en la parcourant de manière organisée. C’est la partie centrale de votre réponse : environ 40 à 45 secondes.

Astuce grammaticale : prépositions spatiales pour la localisation

Utilisez des prépositions spatiales pour indiquer à l’auditeur où se trouvent les éléments dans l’image. Cela démontre l’étendue de votre vocabulaire et aide à structurer votre description.

Astuce grammaticale : There is / There are pour exprimer l’existence

Utilisez There is/are pour introduire de nouveaux éléments dans la scène :

Le modèle

Étape 3 : conclusion. Ajouter l’ambiance ou l’impression générale

Objectif : Concluez par une brève observation sur l’ambiance, l’atmosphère ou un détail marquant. Environ cinq à dix secondes.

Astuce grammaticale : accumulation d’adjectifs pour des descriptions vivantes

Placez deux ou trois adjectifs avant un nom pour créer des descriptions riches. Suivez l’ordre standard des adjectifs en anglais : Opinion → Size → Age → Shape → Color → Origin → Material → Purpose.

• It’s a bright, sunny weekend morning at the market.
• The stalls create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
• Everyone seems to be enjoying a lively, festive day outdoors.
