45.99,” “under a hundred dollars,” “around fifty”
- 度量单位:“two kilometres,” “150 square feet,” “half a litre”
- 数量:“a dozen,” “three or four,” “at least twenty”
3:30 PM,” “quarter past nine,” “around noon”
- 日期和星期:“next Tuesday,” “the 15th,” “this coming weekend”
- 时间长度:“for two hours,” “all day,” “about twenty minutes”

Sarah Johnson,” “Dr. Patel,” “Manager Rodriguez”
Maple Dental Clinic,” “Fresh Choice Market”
Annual Charity Run,” “Summer Festival”
- “Let’s meet at…”(引出时间/地点)
- “That’ll cost…”(引出价格)
- “My name is…”(引出姓名)
- “It’s located on…”(引出位置)
- “You’ll need to…”(引出要求或指示)
“Should we meet at 2 or 3? Actually, let’s make it 3:30.”
- Till/cashier(收银台)
- Toonie(两加元硬币)、loonie(一加元硬币)
- Debit/Interac(常见的支付方式)
- Rain check(推迟或缺货商品的换购券)
- Book/make an appointment
- Reschedule 或 push back a meeting
- Drop by/pop in(非正式拜访)
- Around/roughly(大约的时间)
- TTC, TransLink, OC Transpo(各城市公交系统)
- Skytrain, subway, streetcar
- Rush hour(高峰时段)
- Hydro(安大略省的电费账单)
- Super/building manager(物业管理员)
- Unit/suite(公寓单元)

Listen to the conversation
Woman: Hey Mark, are we still on for the barbecue this Saturday?
Man: Yeah, definitely! I was actually going to text you about that. Sarah said she can bring her portable speaker, so we’ll have music sorted.
Woman: Oh, perfect. I was thinking we should start around 4 instead of 3, though. My shift at the clinic doesn’t end until 2:30, and I’ll need time to pick up the veggie burgers on the way.
Man: Four works. That gives me more time to set up the patio anyway. By the way, how many people are we looking at now?
Woman: So there’s us, Sarah and her boyfriend, the Chens from next door, and I think Tom said he might bring his sister. So maybe eight or nine?
Man: Got it. I’ll grab an extra bag of charcoal then. Oh, and do we have enough chairs? Last time a couple of people had to stand.
Woman: I’ve got four folding chairs in my garage. I can bring those over in the morning. Should I grab some ice too? The cooler we used at the Canada Day party should still be in your shed.
Man: Good call. Yeah, it’s in there. Honestly, I think we’re in pretty good shape. I’ll handle the meat and drinks, you bring the veggie stuff and chairs, and Sarah’s got music. Done.
Woman: Sounds like a plan. Oh, one more thing — do you want me to make that pasta salad everyone liked last time? The one with the sun-dried tomatoes?
Man: Are you kidding? That was the first thing to go. Yes, please. Alright, I’ll see you Saturday at 4. Can’t wait.

-
C) 4:00 PM
- 女士提议 “start around 4 instead of 3”,Mark 表示同意:“Four works.”
-
B) Her shift at the clinic doesn’t end until 2:30
My shift at the clinic doesn’t end until 2:30, and I’ll need time to pick up the veggie burgers on the way.”
-
C) Eight or nine
- 女士逐一列举:“us”(2 人)、“Sarah and her boyfriend”(2 人)、“the Chens from next door”(2 人)、“Tom said he might bring his sister”(1–2 人)。她最后说 “maybe eight or nine”。
-
C) A portable speaker
- Mark 说 “Sarah said she can bring her portable speaker, so we’ll have music sorted.”
-
B) A pasta salad with sun-dried tomatoes
- 女士问 “do you want me to make that pasta salad everyone liked last time? The one with the sun-dried tomatoes?”
